Chapter 7

It did not take as long as I had expected to reach my destination- The Stairston High School. I watched from a distance. These people acted in such a strange manner, and for teenagers they seemed so... Immature. They smelled of the most irritating scent and some of them wore tight pants. I was disgusted. I could never be classified as one of these… Mortals.

I arrived just when the school day had finally ended. Whilst the teens were dispersing, flooding through the doors, I caught a glimpse of her- The Savior. Something inside me tried ever so hard to lash out but I remained calm. I strutted over through the crowd and from there executed my plan. Breezing by I let out an intentional bump of the shoulder. She easily dropped her book. I went to reach for it and thats when our hands touched and we met each others eyes.

It was like a burst of electricity hit my heart. Her eyes were stunning blue, a blue that took me deeper into her soul. A spark. I couldn’t withdraw- my hand was stuck in place. She wasn't from this world. I did not know the true meaning of Heaven until she spoke. I had never expected anything like this.

“Hey, that's my book.” Her voice was a harmonic melody that laid the demon in me to rest. As she tried to pry the hardback from my sweaty fingers, I fell into submission.

“Oh, sorry. I didn't mean to uh- yeah... That looks like a good book.” I stood up and smiled a little, still acting as if I wasn't on edge. I was trying not to focus on the fact that she could probably see right through my disguise.

“Okay? Well it is a good book and it’s fine- accidents happen.” She mumbled to herself, attempting to hide behind her auburn hair. This was an awkward situation for the both of us.

“May I ask what is about?” I stuttered those words. She seemed like a pretty open girl but you can’t judge a book by its cover- and hers had no title.

“Yes, it is about the afterlife- and if you’ll excuse me, I have a ride-” She attempted to finish her sentence. I didn't want to be hasty but the words were forced from my mouth.

“My name’s Tiev-Elliot! Oh yeah its Elliot.” I rubbed the back of my neck and scuffed my foot into the mud. I was never this shy around anybody. I mean when I was younger, I was- but that was the old me! I've changed! I shook the taunting thoughts of the past from my head.

“My name’s Anahera.” The chime of her voice caressed me from my current state of mind and drew me back into this world without missing a beat.

“Well it’s nice to meet you Anahera.” Cautiously I looked around. I felt someone approaching us, and I was right. A large, beefed up man stepped in front of me. Unsure of if this was her mate, I started to slink off into the crowd.

“Anahera, it’s time to go.” He spoke in a stern, dominant tone. Blonde hair slicked back, and his brown t-shirt torn a little, I was left to feel intimidated. I could tell by his scent, he was a Wolf. Oh how I hated them. I have had a few run in’s with wolves like him, and nothing good ever came out! My muscles tensed up to the thought of fighting. I wasn't going to get my ass kicked.

“Hold on brother.” She slid around the muscular boy and trotted over to me, touching my shoulder gently. The feeling of power ran through my veins again. As for her brother, he gazed my way and his brow furrowed. With a dirty snarl he turned away. He knew what I was too.

“Thanks again for helping me, goodbye Elliot.” She gave me a wink and walked away in a graceful manner. Her brother looked back and bared his teeth at me. I shot a dirty look straight back. Animals.

I felt I couldn’t get a word in edgewise. I let her walk right out of my grip. I could have done it! Right here, just now! Honestly Tie, what was holding you back! I mentally punished myself for my incapability to fulfill my father’s deed. Were those feeling coming from somewhere other than my mind? I tried not to let it slow me down, so without any last touch on the subject I started off into the darkness that approached.
